Some people say it's purring or kneading of the paws and just general affection toward you. One thing cats do if they really like you (if they can hunt this is) they will bring a mouse or other trophy to you or leave half of the mouse on the doorstep. People usually scold them for bringing the mouse because they don't realize that it's out of affection that the cat did so. You should praise them for such behavior or you could damage what they thought about you.

The supreme act of affection you will get from a cat is when they close their eyes and bump heads with you. Not only are they showing you affection, but they are conveying their trust for you. By closing their eyes and extending their necks to bump heads, they place themselves in a very vulnerable position. If a cat does this to you, you know you are loved.

Hmm... I was thinking more in terms of physical affection when I read your question.... When a cat "snurfs" you -- rubbing on you with the scent glands on the side of their face -- they are claiming you as their very own -- that is pretty affectionate! The other one I thought of is the eye blink -- very slow. This means "I love you" in cat -- and if you lock eyes with your cat and blink very very slowly -- you may have to do it a couple of times -- they will blink back! It is very cool.....

Mines going to sound random but my kitten shows his affection by licking. He will start likcing my hands or face when he is near me and then start to purr loudly. He only does this to me and my dad so I know that he really loves us.

My kitty seems to have lots of ways of showing her affection. She kneads me, she HAS to be in the same room with me (she'll even get in the shower with me!), she sleeps with me at night, and she has this weird habit of licking my face. She's never done the "head butt" with me, but I bet it would be cute.

When the cat places his forehead on yours, he/she is accepting you as another cat. I think that is quite an honor

Wanting to be near you, sleeping in your lap, sleeping at the foot of your bed, purring when you pet and stroke them. All are signs that your kitty loves you.

When they kill something and deliver it to you! It's always nice to wake up and find a half battered mouse laying by your slippers!
