Read. A lot. Especially things you disagree with or have a difficult time understanding. Examine the arguments in the text. Evaluate those arguements and determine whether you think they are valid or invalid, and whether or not you agree with them. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
And by the way, Sudoku won't give you critical thinking skills, just puzzle-solving skills.

Use the textbooks. There are many out there, which are all good. Or, just browse the internet for material. I am at the moment doing the Critical thinking AS, so i've found loads of material is available on the interent. Just look for revision help, and you'll find it :)

Take a forensics or debate class in school. Also, take a logic class, so you can learn to recognize different styles of arguments and reasoning.

How about doing "logic problems" or Sudoku? Both of these activities are done alone and definitely build one's critical thinking.
