I'm very sorry to hear that your mother feels that way. I was in the marching band all through Jr and Sr High school as well as 2 years in a Drum and Bugle corps.

I found these to be the most valuable learning experiences in my life. They taught me the value of teamwork and dedication to a common goal of continuous improvement.

I learned about leadership by both observing and by taking charge when necessary.

Don't give up if given a choice.

Talk to your Mom & let her know you really enjoy this activity and you have made a committment and do not want to break a promise.

Your Mom may be frustrated becasue she has to spend alot of time taking you to events & practices - let your Mom know that you appreciate all the support she gives you and maybe try to find rides to practices. Also try & help around the house - even though you are busy you have a responsibility ast home too.

And your Mom may be frustrated if their is a money committment form her also. Offer to do extra work to compensate for the money she has to spend.

It's a hard call.... Do you enjoy being in winterdrumline? First I would figure out why your mom feels the way she does. You made a commitment to the drumline when you joined and it would be a shame to back out now, especially with only one comp. left. It says alot about a kid for them to stick it out with no support from family.
