Due to the fact that butter has a very low melting point, to fry or even to heat it would melt it, so no....

I have seen Paula Deen do it on her new show "Paula's Party" that airs on the Food Network channel. I have attached the recipe. She does it into balls, but I am sure you could do it by stick if you wanted. Hope this helps. Good luck! :)

Paula's Fried Butter Balls

2 sticks butter
2 ounces cream cheese
Salt and pepper
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 egg, beaten
1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
Peanut oil, for frying

Cream the butter, cream cheese, salt and pepper together with an electric mixer until smooth. Using a very small ice cream scoop, or melon baller, form 1-inch balls of butter mixture and arrange them on a parchment or waxed paper lined sheet pan. Freeze until solid. Coat the frozen balls in flour, egg, and then bread crumbs and freeze again until solid.
When ready to fry, preheat oil in a deep-fryer to 350 degrees F.

Fry balls for 10 to 15 seconds until just light golden. Drain on paper towels before serving.

Sorry, but the butter will melt if its deep fried. I suppose you could try freezing it first, but since its a fat and highly soluable in high temperatures, i think you'll end up with a mess! How about deep frying a twinkie or milkyway bar instead? You'll end up with the same amount of fat in your body only it will taste good in the end!

No you can't. Butter melts at a pretty low temperature; if you were to drop it in hot oil you'd just end up with melted butter mixed in to your oil
