A group of my friends and I would like to take a cruise trip this summer, has any one been on a cruise that allows minors to drink alcohol?

First of all you must be at least 21 years old (25 years old for Carnival Cruise line) to book a cruise and there must be at least one person who is age 21 or older in each cabin. If you meet this requirement then you can drink legally. Each person who is booked on a cruise ship has a combination key card/room key which has personal information including your age and thus whether you can purchase alcoholic beverages. Cruise lines do not allow underage drinking. However, if you go on a cruise with your parents they may sign to allow you wine with dinner.

Now on the QT if your group goes and you set up your reservations so that there is a 21 year old (25 for CARNIVAL) in each cabin, then that person can purchase drinks for all, that's assuming the under-aged people don't look like they are 10 years old. If, for example, there are some who are 19 or 20 and cannot buy liquor, one person who is legal can go get drinks, like a bucket of beer bottles, for the group and bring it back to where you have deck chairs. Get my drift??

All cruise lines no longer allow anyone under 21 to drink, I found this out the hard way as I was boarding a ship this past summer. On top of it your age is the age that you are the day the ship sets sail. Sometimes if you are sailing with your parents and in parts or Europe or South America, the ship will require your parents to sign a waiver allowing anyone between 18-20 to drink, but that can only happen if they are on the ship with you.

And on top of it they will not let anyone under 21 book a room unless someone 21 or over is staying in the room with them.
