I went along to my local slimming world class. I have about 1.5 stone to lose, and felt like I shouldnt have been there. There were much larger people than me, and I felt they would think "what is she doing here?". Should I bother for just a stone and a half or not. Has anyone ever tried to follow slimming world without going to classes?

Don't let others put you off - you are probably being paranoid, I'm sure they won't think that about you.

If you want to go, and think it will be beneficial, I would keep attending. I managed to follow weightwatchers for a while, just by doing it myself at home, and I did manage to lose weight and keep it off, although I now feel that I would've lost it a lot quicker had I attended a class. By doing it on your own, you are not under any particular pressure to keep losing, and may start to get lazy. If you have the added pressure of a regular weigh in, you will stay motivated to keep losing. Also, by attending the class, you will be able to receive support from others, and in turn, offer it back to them where it is needed.

It really depends on if you see it as "Only a stone and a half!" If so, then maybe not. I know from experience though how hard it is to loose that much weight. Slimming classes are all about the support of a group and admitting that you need that support to loose the weight.
You've made a huge step in going to the class for hep, and no one will look at you differently. If you feel so different to everyone else there and you believe that you can loose 1.5 stone alone, then have a go.
I would advise though that Slimming World isn't really the best plan for if you have less weight to loose as it does encourage an 'eat all you want' ethos. I'm in the same boat - only about 1.5 stone to loose, and have found Weight Watchers much better as it regulates what you eat and teaches a more healthy balance.
Good luck!

There might be bigger people than you there, but you all share the same thing - you're not comfortable with how you look / how much you weigh.

I'm prob one of the biggest in my Slimming World class, but I look at the people who are smaller than me and think how well they deserve to do for not letting their weight get immensely out of control.

Its not worth following the plan and not going to the class, because you'll cheat. If you go every week, you can see the results on the scales, even if you cant feel the results yet.

I live in the states and don't know about slimming world, but you don't have to go to a class to lose weight. just eat right, drink water, and exercise every day. I lost a lot more that 36 pounds by myself.

I went to Slimming World with only approx 1 stone to lose, and ended up putting on weight! The 'unlimited' amounts of food just encouraged me to eat more - wasnt good!

Yes of course you should go if you want to. Just because you have a smaller amount to loss. You still need the support of the group and the information ect. Your weight loss is just as important as the fattest persons. Goo luck with it I have lost 6 stone now only 6 more to go LOL

I wouldn't go I would just recommend eating a healthy diet and doing excercise around 4 times a week. Try and vary the exercise you do aswell you keep you enthusiastic. I do jogging once a week, swimming once, then 2 of my fitness dvd's. Hope this helps good luck.

Set your pc alarm to ring hourly—stand up for 1 to 5 minutes everytime it goes off.

At breakfast, go ahead and beverage orange juice. But throughout all of those other day, focus on water rather then juice or soda

Are your dishes too large? A healthy dinner should fit with a 9-inch plate. You may find that kid-sized plates are more appropriately sized to feed a grownup!
