The 'Occupation' of Iraq ended on Jan 30, 2005 - when the first elections were held.

Currently we are there with the agreement of the Iraqi people.

Most of the people who have actually been to Iraq support what we are doing there - has it ever occurred to you that they may know something you do not?

Because Iraq is still in turmoil, and the world can't let you yankees pull out and leave a country to rot YET AGAIN.

America always does this; invade, take casualties, then run away.

Did it in Canada, 1813.

Did it in Vietnam.

Did it in Somalia.

Did it in quite a few other places.

You take casualties that in previous wars were inflicted in hours:

You fall back.

There are hippies protesting in the capital:

You fall back.

Oil prices start to rise:

You fall back.

Its time you Americans finally make it with a stick in the dirt and say:

"No more falling back, no more running away, no more listening to hippies! HERE is where we draw the line!"

You shouldn't have invaded in the first place, but since you're there and you've torn out the country's guts, you'd might as well finish what you started.

Because Bush and his cronies are egotistical idiots and refuse to admit they made a mistake. They insist that we will not leave until Iraq is a democratic society, yet somewhere along the way they forgot that it is a Islamic country and society, and a democratic government cannot survive in an Islamic culture. They live their live's by their religion and their religion leaves no room for democracy. Everyone is not equal in Islam, if you don't believe what they believe then you are an infidel and you deserve to die. Therefore if the person in charge is not your specific form of Religion they must die, and it will continue that way until someone has the power to subdue them and make them live in harmony. That is why Saddam could make it work over there, because he had the power to subdue them and make them cooperate. We do not have that power, and that power cannot be expressed while a Democratic government is in place.

Why is the US still occupying Germany, Japan, Liberia, the Phillipines? The military has bases all over the world, we will never leave Iraq completely.

Because some believe it is a hotbed of terrorists and its better to fight them there then wait until they come here to blow up innocent Americans.

since our president has never told us why we went there in the first place, it's simply not possible to know why we remain.

we have never had such a secretive president - i think this has to do with mr. bush's past as an addict...
