Most Christians will answer this question by saying that there is a deeper meaning or that it is in some way symbolic. My question is: If God wanted us to use “his word” to guide us through life, why would he make us guess what he is talking about? Anything in the Bible that makes God sound bad, Christians say is symbolic or has a deeper meaning. Would a reasonable God leave us to fight over what he wants us to do?

** What sort of person would get really angry at a tree and curse it for not having fruit? **
A hungry or insane person would most likely do such a thing..
The Bible Mark 11:12-14
The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs.
Then he said to the tree, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again." And his disciples heard him say it.
The Bible Judges 9:10-12
"Next, the trees said to the fig tree, 'Come and be our king.'
"But the fig tree replied, 'Should I give up my fruit,
so good and sweet, to hold sway over the trees?'
Apparently it was not the season for fig trees to fruit.
This is very understandable to most folk. To wither a fig tree because it was not able to give fruit out of season is ridiculous. This story must be symbolic. Why couldn't he tell it had no fruit without going up to it.
The overall meaning of this is that Jesus himself indeed came out of season. This is symbolic of the rejection Jesus faced at the time and still faces today.

The One who created it and saw that it did not even have enough respect to bear fruit for the Creator to eat. Also it is a symbol of Israel who did exactly the same thing. In less than 70 years all of Jerusalem was destroyed.
Only the ignorant do not realize that Israel is the world's example and we should learn from what Israel failed to do. The beautiful thing is though that God still loves Israel. He will restore His people and His land.
Israel is the true branches of the Olive Tree and we are branches grafted in to the Olive Tree. God loves both branches but He does want the grafted in to acknowledge and benefit from the true branches. They have been used to show the world what happens when we choose to disobey God.

Wait, you are upset that He killed a tree He put there to begin with? The tree had no fruit, so He used it as an example to His followers as to what a good tree is like vs a bad tree. It also showed the power of faith and what could be done with it.

Maybe Jesus, in cursing the fig, F.I.G., was in fact preemptively cursing Kant's doctrine of Freewill, Immortality, God.
I lifted this from Crowley. The amusing thing is that this spurious interpretation is exactly the same sort of thing that gets "Christians" believing that the Apocalypse is talking about today's headlines.

Jesus was trying to make a point. It is a visual message to the worth of anything that doesnt bear fruit. The Christian life is like the fig tree barren unles we bear fruit of our walk with God.

What sort of person(s) keep asking questions about things they don't understand the meaning of, and obviously don't want to? Why do they like making themselves look so ignorant?
