If you could push a button that removed belief of God(s) from the mind of every person on this planet, would you do it?

Of course no such a button exists, and this is a hypothetical question. I am just wondering where everyone stands. Iwould not do such a thing.

ABSOLUTELY. Religion has been the cause of more wars and killings than any other cause in the world. I'm sick of people killing others because they believe that their invisible sky god is better than someone else's.

If I came across such a button I'd push it in a heartbeat.

I don't think I would. I'm an atheist, but I've seen two side to the theist crowd.

For some it's a soapbox, a way of feeling superior, a way of avoiding independent, rational thought. I'd love to push button that into oblivion.

For others, though, it fills their lives with hope and purpose and I kinda think that's sweet. My mom's in that category. She believes, but she doesn't force her beliefs on others and she doesn't try to convert me. I prefer not to mess with that.

There is a constant stream of Christians in here who ask how atheists could have morals if they don't believe in god...asking dumb questions like if you don't believe in god why aren't you raping and stealing. I think it stands to reason that pushing such a button would cause the types of Christians who ask those questions to go around raping and stealing, so I would not push it.

I wouldn't push the button.
I think that religion is important to some people and gives them motivation.
I personally don't subscribe to any organized religion, but do believe in a higher power. Sometimes that is comforting to me and allows me to better pull through difficult times.

No. Force and free choice do not work together. I only applaud somebody deciding to become an Atheist if they do so for a logically sensible reason...this button would be a very wrong reason.

Yes, then perhaps mankind could move out of the realm of ignorance and superstition into an enlightened age.

In a second! Then I'd invest heavily in antidepressant companies, to cash in on all the wailing from those who have had their security blankets snatched away.
