It depends on the situation. I would give up the money right away--there is no question of that. However, some robbers are not satisfied with taking just your money. Their logic works out to make you a threat to them if you are a witness left alive. Therefore, in any situation where a robber may state, "Your money or your life," be prepared to use the process of handing him your money as a means to escape him or, if you have the clear means, to attack or incapacitate him, so that you do not ALSO lose your life. One never knows when confronted, whether the robber is ONLY a robber or a robber and murderer. The answerer who threw her purse at the attacker had the right idea. It distanced the attacker and made it less likely that he'd also go for your life. Having been in a variation of this scenario, I can tell you it isn't cut and dried, and you NEVER know what you'll do until it happens.

It actually happened to me years ago and let me tell you- the decision is real easy in the moment.
It didn't do him any good though- I had no cash on me and I canceled all my cards within 15 minutes. The worst was the aftereffects and the loss of all my stuff. I'm still scared to be in a parking lot at night- thank goodness my hubby is my protector :0)
I know a woman who was in that situation back when I was 7 or 8. She denied the attacker her purse (she's loaded and likes to show it off, so he knew what she had in that purse) so he hit her over the head with a big rock so many times her skull caved in, she suffered multiple strokes and to this day still has severe emotional and mental disturbances from all the brain trauma, as well as lingering physical damage.
So if anyone is ever in that situation, please, please, PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BE A HERO!! Victims who try to use a weapon on their attacker usually have it backfire on themselves, and no amount of green paper (or blue plastic) is worth the life of you or a loved one.

No amount of money is worth your life. If you think you can give him money and he will let you go, then do it! However, if someone grabs you in a parking lot or something and tries to force you into a car, fight for your life! Scream, do whatever it takes, because once they get you in a car your chances of being killed are much higher. They are not as likely to kill you right there in a public place, so your chances of escape are greater.

Don't you just love the little kids who think they pull a gun and shoot the robber to have both their money and their life. Unfortunately most gunmen would catch them before they pulled their weapons and probably send them dropping to the ground in a bloodied lump. Therefore the robber would have taken both your money and your life!!!
And frankly a life is a sad thing to waste over money

Any wise individual who cares about their life will just toss their money at the person and make a break for it. Most robbers aren't going to kill, but you can never be too careful. Toss & Run!

I would give the robber God's money and His blessings.
God loves you and so do I.

None us carry enough money around to make it worth getting killed over? Unless you think you have a reasonable chance of 1. getting away, or 2. stopping the person by force, I think 100% of us are going to hand over our wallet, watch, and whatever else the perp wants. Common sense is a virtue.

Well I never have more than $20 in my purse so I'd give the selfish as*hole my purse and let him run. Come one, $20... So not worth risking your life.
Now losing my purse is another story! Haha just kidding...
