No. God made us in the image of Him. That means that we know right from wrong. It was just He asked them not to eat fro that tree so that we would not know anything about the pain and suffering and stuff like that.

The serpent was using the same method as Satan is using today. He did not want Even to believe in God's word. It planted the doubt, and it went after Eve because it knew how big of the power of influence a woman has over man. We can get almost anything out of the man when we use right method. Eve was in the wrong for not consulting her husband about this matter and she did not talk with God about this matter. Se fell right into satan's trap. Seprtent twisted God's word but it did not have any way of keeping its promises. :)

Knowledge can mean intellectual knowledge or knowing by experience. I can know about sex in biological terms, but it's entirely different from experiencing sex. Even a child can know what sex IS, but will not really KNOW all of the details until they take part in it. Knowing ABOUT it doesn't imply actually having COMMITTED it.

Technically, the fruit was of the knowledge of good and evil, not right and wrong. There's a big difference. I can get something wrong on a test, but it doesn't mean it's evil. They knew goodness already. They did not know evil until they disobeyed.

God told Adam and Eve they could do whatever they wanted, go where ever they wanted, and eat whatever they wanted as long as they left that tree alone. God told both that it was wrong to eat the fruit of the tree. Eve knew it was wrong, but CHOSE not to obey. Adam also CHOSE not to obey - he knew eating the fruit was wrong.
Everything is a choice - see what happens when we screw up!! The world goes to h*ll in a hand basket!

Ahh Bad Squirrel, there is so much you need to know.
She knew because her husband told her.
He knew because God told him.
Please note when Satan came to Eve, to tempt her, she declared:
"At this the woman said to the serpent: “Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat. But as for eating of the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘YOU must not eat from it. . .Genesis 3:2,3.
The tree of knowledge of right and wrong should not be thought of as imparting an understanding of right and wrong.
They already knew.
Eating of that fruit tree would simply demonstrate it, prove it.
A legal precedant.

According to the Bible - specifically - God told Adam and Eve they could eat from anything in the Garden of Eden EXCEPT from that one particular tree. It was Satan (in the form of a snake) that tempted her to disobey - God's instructions. She bought into it - and once she realized that she messed up she persuaded Adam to do the same thing. Kind of like one kid saying to the other kid "Now you can't tell Dad 'cuz you did the same bad thing that I did and you'll get in trouble too!" It didn't work then . . . and it doesn't work now! It seems you always get "found out!" in the end.

Adam and Eve had everything they could need for eternal happiness, there was not one more thing God could give to have made it better. The tree was a test of obedience and faith in God. They both would have been given council, from God himself, as to why they should not disobey. They would have been told of Satan, his fall, and intent to bring mans fall but Eve wandered and was deceived. Adam sinned.

Because God had already told her not to eat of the fruit of the tree. She may not have understood the ramifications of her choice, but she did know God's commandment.

The issue was not whether eating the fruit was right or wrong, but whether she would choose to obey God.

Great question!

But shame on you for making Riegan's head spin!

Erin: But if it was wrong to disobey god..... Eve would not have known it because she did not yet have the knowledge of right & wrong which came from the tree of knowledge. So for all she knew.... disobeying god would've been a favorable thing to do. Like the way people use reverse psychology to get them to do what they want them to do.

Because she was told! And it is the tree of " the knowledge of Good and Evil." It could be simplified as this. "The tree that sets God's standard of what is Good or what is Bad." By eating from the tree Adam and Eve decided that they will determine on their own what is right and what is wrong, and basically telling God "well we know you created us, but we think that we can do a better job of governing our selves." And with the free will bestowed upon them from their creation, God allowed them to test their theory, and behold! Here we are, all messed up.
