I am obsessed with the idea of shaving my head. I imagine the feeling of the razor against my scalp. I think it would be a wonderful experience especially if my boyfriend did it for me.

I have long hair now and I think it would be a shock to see myself bald. I'm not quite sure why I want to do it.

I think there would be a huge difference in doing it because you want to than because you have to.
I was a baldy, it will be 2 years ago in June. I did it because I was having brain surgery.
I had long beautiful red hair before that. I cut it short first and donated it to the locks of love.
the night before my surgery, My husband shaved me the rest of the way down to notta.
I was a wonderful bonding moment for us.
But I wont lie, when I looked in the mirror I totally freaked out.
The pro's for going bald: Takes 1/2 the time to get ready. Shorter showers. Saves money on hair products. and its cooler in the summer
The cons: nothing to soak up your sweat in summer time. It runs down your face. A sun burn hurts like hell. When it grows back in, you have a lot of "stupid hair" stages to get thru! people look at you like a crazy biker or dyke chick!

More power to you if you do it. Remember its just hair and it will grow back.
After 2 years, mine is almost back to the way it was before!

I say, go for it! Don't let social norms stand in your way! I got my head shaved just a couple of days ago. I'm a 16 year old girl. It may take awhile to get used to. For me, during the first couple of hours after I felt a little strange. But after that I just couldn't stop staring in the mirror and thinking wow. It may not be the most flattering look, but it is so freeing, I swear. It feels wonderful when the wind hits the top of your head and you can feel it. And it feels cool brushing your hands through it. More then anything, it feels REAL. I feel like I look a lot more intense. But also a lot more me. But of course, it'll be a different experience for everyone. I was never very fussed about my appearance. If anyone gives you **** about it, then they're just not worth a second thought. Good luck!

It's honestly not that big a deal. My ears got cold a lot, though, and when it started to grow back, it was a mess and impossible to control (no parts, everything just grew straight out).

I'd suggest you do it when you can still wear hats, though, in case you don't like it. I didn't, since it turns out my head is pretty bumpy from being a tomboy as a kid.

Edit: I gotta say, while it wasn't the worst thing in the world, I didn't regret it either. I think it was a very important and personal thing for me to experience and helped me grow a lot as a person. You will be amazed at how vulnerable and naked you look without hair. I can understand why Britney would do it. It frees you from the veil and protection your hair offers.

ok ive never shaved my head entriely but i did do the old skaterboy hair cut and it wasnt bad i liked it for a bit it was a lot cooler and less things i had to do with my hair just put in a pony tail or w/e and its good to go plus you can still hide the fact you shaved your head if you want by leaving your hair down since only part of your head is shaved. However some ppl will start to call you names b/c not many girls shave their head unless they are lesiaban at least thats what ppl thing for some reason .

i shaved my head. i loved it. my neck hated it. it was red for weeks. you should maybe try shaving a small patch underneath your hair in the back to see if you will have a similar experience.

in a social light: i was in a conservative PA town (is there any other kind?), and I got some nasty comments and looks. most people didn't understand why i would "make myself look ugly".

you will be surprised at the number of people who think you are a queer liberal vegan, and who cannot understand why any girl would ever want to be bald

It was great for me.

Don't do it.. umm resist the temptation, Sinead. My co-worker thought shaving her head would be liberating but after she did it she said that she was so shocked about her appearance afterward. Plus, Growing your hair out in all its awkward stages is not fun either. Stay with hair and photoshop the fantasy.

my head isn`t completely shaved, but it`s close!!! my hair is about 1/2" all over the top, with my bangs left super long, which i wear over to the side...i luv it!!! my boyfriend does it with the clippers, it doesn`t take long & looks fantastic!!! i`m always experimenting with new & unique hairstyles, but this is my absolute favorite!!! if u think u might like it, then go for it!!! if u don`t like it u can always let it grow out again...i have gotten so many compliments on mine, i think because it goes with my fashion style & really highlights my facial piercings!!!

What if you had an egg shaped head? You should think about that. It may not be a pretty sight. I do not know how old you are, but some mother's have a difficult time in childbirth. It causes they baby's head to be mishapen, and sometimes it does not go away.
