I am an Agnostic, meaning I admit we can't prove/disprove God exists. I admit Jesus maybe was not divine. But why does it matter if He was divine? The fact of the matter is that no matter if Jesus was divine or not, He has inspired millions of people around the globe to live better lives. He gave people hope in his time who thought there was nothing to live for. There is nothing to lose by admiring Him.

Christians do not admire Jesus, they follow worship and obey Him. There is a difference. If a person does not follow and accept Jesus as their personal Savior, it does not matter what you call yourself, be it atheist, agnostic or what ever. You are all in the same boat, which is spiritually lost.

If you want to experience the fullness and happiness, and completion in life, you must do it through Jesus. This is what you must do...

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Ask Jesus for His forgivenss for your sins, and He will do so in an instant. Then go and follow Him!

Life here on earth is just a short stop in our life. The average life span being 80 or so. Eternal life is never ending. Where you end up spending that eternity is up to you, right here and now. After death, there is no turning back, when you find out, and you will find out, that Heaven is where you want to be, but never accepted Jesus while here on earth by accepting Him as your savior.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Matthew 18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Not all athiest have no admiration of Christ. My husband is Athiest and I am Pagan and we both have a great respect for his general teachings. Niether of us believe he was divine. Chances are he did exist, there is a lot of historical prove that he LIVED, but believing he was divine is what makes a Christian and Chrisitan. You are right in he has inspired many around the world. And his basic message of peace IS to be admired. But we try to respect all religons in our house for the wonderful message that they ALL tend to pass along out side of the hateful fanatics that ALL religions share.
On a personal note I wish Christians (in a very general term here) would stop telling the rest of the worl that we don't respect Jesus because we don't believe he was divine. Lots of religions believe he was a prophet but not the messiah. Do they not "respect" Jesus either?

Except, clearly, your sense of proportion.

Jesus - IF you accept that he existed at all - seems to have been a fairly unremarkable street-corner seer in a barbaric desert land. He had a few good ideas about being nicer to people, but nothing unprecedented. He also had a number of thoroughly loopy ideas which his latter-day followers seem to have put to one side nowadays. He appears to have started to believe his own hype - which was considerable.

His end - oddly well-documented considering the private conversations involved - can easily be read as someone slowly realising that he's in deep schtupp, without much of an idea how to get out of it.

And so he was executed in the manner of the times - and all would have drifted away had it not been for that utter clot Constantine. And now he's back, horribly bowdlerised, causing chaos all over the western world.

Admire?

Has he? Are you saying those people would not have found a reason to live a better life had they not stumbled across Jesus in the home, while growing up? You may be right about there being nothing to lose but it's naive to suggest that he's the only one worthy of that flavor of admiration.

OK, he said some good stuff (or at least, the guys who made him up wrote some good stuff). He may have "inspired millions of people ... to lead better lives," but he also inspired some of the most heinous crimes against humanity in history. Sorry, dude; not a lot to admire there. True, I lose nothing, but I gain nothing, as well.

What is there to lose in admiring many other Gods that only want people to live a "good life"? Why stop at just Jesus?

Lets see, Jesus maybe ok, I had never met him before ..... but it is the christians who are annoying.

Why should I admire a person who had such followers? What does anyone have to gain by admiring such a person? Anyway, a person who think he is god or son of god has some serious mental problem.

Just because one can't prove or disprove god does not mean we have to admire him. You cannot prove or disprove the tooth fairy either, should you admire her too? She is the one that give you a nickel when you lose a tooth, isn't she?

Actually I like Jesus very much. I think he was a very wise man who taught some important things. It's too bad Christians consider Paul's words more than Jesus'. Quote him a lot more too. Jesus was much kinder, more tolerant, and less controlling. I agree he did a lot of good and I do admire him.

The term "gnosos" in Greek is "to know". The word "agnosos" means to "not know" or "unknowable". The term Agnostic refers to one who believes that there is a God, but that He is unknowable or beyond our being able to come into personal contact.

Jesus prayed to God for those who would believe in Him the following in John 17:3, "This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."

Based on this truth straight from Jesus Himself, you can move from agnostic to intelligent believer. But what of evidence for belief? Most agnostics I have met are those who want to believe, but feel it disingenuous to do so on face value--without due evidence. I find they lack the tools to explore the evidence. If one is willing to take a glance into the eternal, I provide the tools to do so within the following blog link. - God speed.

Admiration? Well, some of the stuff that he said was certainly admirable, though it can be found elsewhere.
Why is it important whether or not an atheist admires Jesus?
