Seems like a pretty simple question. But think about it, won't you? People make some pretty condesending remarks on this forum and I think it's time to stop the insanity.

thank most of you, for understanding my question. I think people should start listening to themselves and stop generalizing.

A child rapist can be your own neighbour but because it is so much hoter for media to talk about some thing unusual like a rabbi or priest that every body thinks That tall Rabi's or priests are child molesters. Just on on the Internet every day and pretend to be under the age. Look how many men, sick men will approach you in a matter of minutes! We are just obsessed with what is going on with news That we forget any one can be a suspect. If you have a child you should not trust any one at all!

Of course they don't have to be religious. A pedophile is a sick person. It doesn't matter if they are religious or not. It does seem that many claim to be Christians but who knows if they are or not. I think that in the cases of Priest it's something that is being watched now so it's pointed out more and more. It didn't mean it didn't happen before, it's just being made public now. It also doesn't mean that all Priest do this.

Anybody who uses their religion to sexually molest a child is either a pretender, or a follower of the Ba'al/Molech/Ashera cults.

Common sense dictates the former: almost all monotheistic religions ban extramarital sex and child abuse. Anybody claiming otherwise is using an ancient form of manipulation on a vulnerable human being, in order to gain their trust and silence, as well as throw the scent of "the law" off their trail.

It is my firm belief that child molesters/rapists are really atheists at heart. They do not accept any higher authority in this life than their own wants and desires.

This does not make all atheists child molesters and rapists, btw.

The ones that make the REPEAT headlines in the news are involved in the church - but the VAST majority are not.

Child molestation is an epidemic.

We need to educate our children and ourselves as to what must be guarded against - but what to do when it happens.

The husband of a dear friend of mine turned out to be a pedophile. I found an amazing book to help her and her kids - and ME to identify what to do. (After we got the fiend in jail.)

It's called: "Protecting Your Children From Sexual Predators" by Dr. Leigh Baker - and it gives ways to identify behavior of children at any age - behavior of predators - who to contact for help - anything and everything you can think of.

But - as for your question - besides the Priest cases, remember of all the child abductions and murders in the news the past 3 years... the only "religious" nut was the cult-driven insanity of the couple who abducted Elizabeth Smart.
The rest were not.... nor are the thousands of others arrested every year.

Peace dear one.

I don't think believing in God or not believing in God is the determining factor for a rapist. You can have the strongest belief in God and still do terrible things on that same note you can not believe in God and would never in a million years contimplate ever being dishonest, killing, hurting, stealing, dishonoring or any other wrong doing. Sometimes who you are and what's inside you over powers your belief, be it right or wrong.

Religion is not a prerequisite to being a child rapist. There are agnostic as well as christian pedophiles.

I imagine so.

The alternative is merely an attempt to slander religion. The higher rates could be made accountable because, many organisations (church etc) are placed in a position of trust which they might abuse.

You might say that uneducated people are more likely to be overtly religious, and therefore there is a correlation between belief in god and child rape. But that would offend too many people. And of course there are many smart people who believe in god.

So in anwer: of course. Belief in god has nothing to do with child rape.

the insanity will never stop.

child rapists are in a special category all to themselves. Whether or not they believe in God doesn't matter. They are pigs who should be killed or sent to a desert island.

All people can be potential child rapist, not only the religious or non-religious. It is a question of morally, not a question of religion.

Put it this way, no matter what beliefs they have whether it is Pagan, Catholics, Mormons, Athiests, Baptist, Buddhist, Scientologist, Wiccan, etc, etc. There will always be that one nut that will fantasize about child raping and underage sex.

So not only religious people have them, but Athiest can fantasize about it and act upon child raping too.
