i was going 74 in a 65 then i went through a reduction sign to 55 and the officer clocked me there and gave me a ticket of going 74 nin a 55 doesent he have to give me so far beyond the sign to slow down or was this a trap and what can i do about it

In NY if the speed is reduced you have to be doing the reduced amount by the time you pass the first sign and if its an increase you cannot increase in speed till you pass the first sign. I am sure most states are the same.

The reduction of your speed should begin as soon as you see the sigh so that you are going the correct speed when you get there. You were speeding before you hit the sign just because the offficer clocked and ticketed you at the sign is a moot point. You just got a larger ticket.

No. The speed begins at the point of the sign. You are responsible for slowing down to that limit before you reach the sign.

You are to start slowing down at the point you see the sign, and need to be down to that speed by the time you reach the sign.

In Oklahoma the new speed limit begins directly even with the sign, therefore there is not a grace and it was not a trap.......assuming Ga laws are the same.
