it all depends on your needs. If you need to touch and feel, then some place like Best Buy is fine. Or- take a look at Costco as well, they have a display and great prices, but a limited selection and no knowledgeable sales people, so you'll need to do your research beforehand.

for the best prices there are a number of highly reputable on-line retailers that have fiercely competitive prices. BHPhotoVideo and NewEgg regularly come out on top in the ratings. I buy from BuyDig sometimes, as their prices are stellar as well. Return policies vary between vendors- and you do pay a bit more for better service.

If the price on-line seems too good to be true... it probably is. There are a number of scam artists out there. One scam is where they offer the camera at an exceptionally low price, but then load you up with overpriced accessories to make up the difference. Check your on-line retailer at resellerratings.com

I shopped around for the best price on the camera I wanted and Sears matched the price and threw in a few extras for buying it there.

How can Best Buy not be the best place?

Find the camera you want and buy it from the store with the lowest price... that's the best place.

I recommend buying locally. It makes it easier if there's a problem with the product.
