In some instances you still should. If you have kids and they need education. Why the hell should I have to pay for it. If you drive on roads, etc.

Whatever gives you the idea that paying taxes is voluntary? It is not. Self-assessment IS voluntary, unlike income taxes in most countries which are source-taxed.

If you don't file a return, the IRS will happily prepare one for you using only the information they have at hand and send you a bill for the taxes due, if any. Usually this will result in higher taxes but if you pay when they make their demand for taxes, no harm, no foul. If you fail to self-assess (i.e. file a tax return) you'll lose out on any deductions, exemptions, credits and refunds you may be entitled to. If you're OK with that, don't bother filing!

Your dates are way off as well. Title 26 of the US Code dates back to 1913, shortly after the 16th Amendment was ratified.

The effect of the 16th Amendment was to consider income taxes as "Indirect" taxes and be levied without apportionment. Prior to the 16th Amendment, income taxes were legal, they just had to be apportioned based upon the population of the several states since they were legally considered "Direct" taxes.

Irwin Schiff is a crackpot, convicted felon and tax cheat. Why would you put any credence in what he has to say? About like taking babysitting lessons from Charles Manson. Knock yourself out either way if that's what you want to do.

That's too funny!

Where is Irwin Shiff right now? He is in prison for not paying his taxes!! According to the Bureau of Prisons, he is due to be released in 2016. He is already 79 years old. In all likelyhood, he will die in prison. Many of his followers are in various prisons around the country. Go ahead, take his advice. See what happens.

THINGS I DIDN'T KNOW UNTIL I SAW THEM ON THE INTERNET:

Nobody ever really landed on the moon - it was a giant hoax. What you saw on TV was filmed in Utah.

Elvis is still alive, and performing marriage ceremonies in Las Vegas.

It is unconstitutional for the government to tax your wages (income tax), and most of what we think of as income isn't really income anyway, and besides that, paying taxes is completely voluntary.

Excuse me now....I just won 2 million pounds in the online UK lottery when my email was randomly selected, and I have to go answer the email.....
