I drink one in the morning and another one an hour before I go to the gym. I've heard its good to drink one right before you go to sleep is that true? If so I would just stop drinking the one in the morning and drink at night before going to sleep. I am already drinking 2 protein shakes a day and wouldnt want to drink 3 I think thats too much. I am only 24, 5'1 and weight 104lbs. Thanks in advance for your suggestion.

switch the breakfast shake for use before bed. you can take a small amount of protein before exercise (10 grams is sufficient for a woman your size) to help reduce the catabolic effects of training. after training a small amount of protein (another 10 grams) is needed to help start the recovery process, some slow burning carbs are also needed here. consuming carbs after exercise is the absolutely safest time when they definetly will never get converted to lipids and stored in fat cells. after training either whey or soy isolates would be optimum. for all other times a blended protein is best.

I've heard they're good before a workout, as they prevent muscle metabolizing(your body won't eat muscle as easily). They're also good after a workout, because your body needs it then. But I say just pick one or the other. Just remember to get in some kind of protein after the workout when you eat.

To switch it up too try cottage cheese, it's high in protein, and you can mix different things into it to change the taste however you like. You can make it a dip, or add a tad of protein powder and some stevia and dice up some fruit and have yourself a very healthy snack.

Oh, I've also heard that you can freeze protein, so make a protein shake in whatever your favourite flavour, and make popsicles out of it, or some iced protein shakes.

Protein shakes are ok, but truthfully, they are not really needed. The best protein comes from real foods like chicken breast, fish, turkey and lean steak. Protein shakes are simply powdered food. For females, eating 5 times a day with a combo of protein, carbs, and fats is the best formula to keep protein flowing in your body all day, which helps you to burn fat and retain muscle. Time them for every 3 hours. You'll be amazed at the results. Protein shakes are ok only if it's time to eat and thats the only thing available at the time. I know this is a long answer, but I just try to spread the truth and hope that it helps. Peace.

Hello! Protein is good before and after your workouts if you are lifting heavy, and exercising intensely. The protein shakes are fast acting, though. Choose another form of protein if you can for bedtime.
