i'd just like to point out that thrush is not a 'rancid' infection as you like to put it!
its not a sexually transmitted disease, although can be passed this way.
it can be a result of stress, your period, a number of things.
i just happen to suffer from it and if that bothers anyone well tough!

Hi Darling, I have a home remedy for thrush if you want to take a bath, sprinkle some baking soda in the bath water. This also helps the thrush and make sure that when you are finished, you dry properly. :)

I don't know about the bath thing, but I do know that thrush is caused by yeast and the best way to deal with an imbalance of bodily chemistry is to ingest good bacteria, which can be found in yogurt that has live active cultures. I would assume that showering and washing the existing residue down the drain would be preferable to soaking in a bath - also tossing any clothing or towels used directly in the wash. Talking to a doctor is probably the best thing to do.

Yes, baths can aggravate an existing infection and can throw your natural flora off balance causing an infection. Scented soaps are also a culprit.

To prevent them you can take acidophiles (comes in capsule form at most pharmacies). These are the live cultures present in yogurt and can help keep your body on track. Make sure you dry thoroughly before you get dressed. Use only cotton underwear, nylon is a bad choice if you are prone to this infection.

I think a bath with bubbles, oils or bath salts will worsen it, but I think a warm bath in plain water might help ease the symptoms a little.

You can also try eating a lot of plain yogurt with live cultures in it (check for something called acidophilus). Apparently it's supposed to help rebalance the beneficial bacteria in our bodies. These might be a little more expensive, but I've found they help prevent thrush when I'm on antibiotics.

It's fine as long as you dry thoroughly after... use a blow dryer if need be... keep yourself dry...

Eat cultured yogurt daily to reduce likelihood of thrush, or drink acidophilus milk.
