anyone know of any freeware programs i can download that will simply help me whiten teeth in some photographs??

The below programs are totally free and will do what you want.
Start with trying to adjust the brightness/contrast, and perhaps white balance .. just a little ... that will be easier than touching up the teeth. If you need to, select the teeth with one of the selection tools and adjust brightness.

you could download Gimp, the free program that does about the same as Photoshop.
