Definitely not, but I'd love for the people who think declawing is OK to have the ends of THEIR fingers amputated. After all, they'd heal up and wouldn't even feel pain after a while, so what does it matter?
You should never surgically alter an animal for your own convenience. Don't get a cat if your furniture means more to you.

No, and none of my cats want to be declawed either.
IMO declawing a cat is nothing short of animal cruelty.
In fact declawing is illegal in almost every country in the world except for the US.
I don't think people understand that it's not just the claws that are removed, the first joint in the cats toe is amputated.
Cats should never be declawed for any reason.
A cat should be provided with a scratching post and taught how to use it.

Cats should never be declawed. They are then unable to protect themselves. Climbing outside is also difficult. If people don't want their furniture damaged, keep the cat out of that particular room....or buy a goldfish!

How would you like these claws. I cut mine constantly and I poke myself in the eyes and I scratch my kid. So no I don't have a problem and Ive yet to see a cat that after its been done and healed even knows.
I never declaw the back just incase a cat gets out and needs protection but my personal cats are front delcawed and I have no objection to an adopter planning to declaw.

Never! I worked at a veterinary hospital and I can tell you that this is probably one of the worst surgeries for a cat. It's horrible. Their feet are cut open and afterwards, the cat's natural defense is gone.

No way!
I have four children, and would never consider cutting off their fingers at the first knuckle, either, in order to make things easier for myself.
