become so still that you can feel the breath coming in and out of your nose. Coordinate your breathing cycle with your heart/pulse rate. Also, try to make your inhale longer than exhale, i.e. 6 hearbeats in - pause-4 heartbeats out- pause.

There is great joy in the pauses between inhale/exhale.

I think the secret is that your left brain is so focused on trying to maintain this complicated cycle (and it is quite difficult to learn), that your right brain has free reign.

Your eyes should be closed or else they will cross!Leave your nose out of the meditation. Think of some place very peaceful, and relaxing. It would help to have a sound in the background I have a C.D. that has waterfalls, another with gentle rain. Some people have found it helpful to turn a radio or a T.V. on a setting where there is static, but no program (white noise) this will help to drown out outside interference. Now drift away in your peaceful thoughts.Happy Meditating!

Never heard of the nose thing, some people breath in through the nose out the mouth though. All depends on what is comfortable for you. If you have alot of tension in your body it helps to think about it leaving, starting with your toes and going up your body. The most important thing about meditation is relaxation, if you are not completely relaxed, it's not going to work for you. Good Luck

What kind of meditation is this? I don't think you have to concentrate on much of anything besides your breathing. Notice how your breathing happens of itself, you don't have to control it by thinking about it, just pay attention to it.

keep your mind focused - with the mind's eye, concentrate on the tip of the nose.

Meditation is meant for experiencing the present moment, there is no need for anything like you're referring to.

I have always heard that you should focus on the mouth when taking medication.
