Are 911 calls kept on record and if so for how long? I called today and they asked for my last name, first name and then my date of birth - I mean it was for an embarrasing situation and the cop showed up at my place but only for 5 second but I just want to know if they keep that kind of thing on record - I mean if I get pulled over and go to jail, can they search my record to see that i made a 911 call or something like that...

the embarassing part was i woke up at 5 and realized that someone was in my room or so I thought but before i looked around, i called 911 and then i looked around and found no one. i thought it was a bad dream - but 1 cop showed up just to make sure. he was in and out for 5 seconds. I just don't want this to be on record.

There will always be a computer record of your call having taken place.
The recording itself will probably be kept for several years then discarded.
There will be nothing on YOUR personal record about the call.
It's not a big deal, your call was legitimate, and nothing happened.

Records concerning 9-1-1 calls are maintained in accordance with the jurisdictions policies. With the current technology of computers, most records are kept indefinitely.
The records of this nature are not the same as those you have with the law enforcement agency records. If an offense has occurred, the 911 records can be incorporated in to the police record.
Your 911 calls are not maintained in such a manner as everytime you get stopped by the police, they check your calls to the 911 communications center. Records that law enforcement routinely check are your vehicle registration, license, and wants/warrants checks.
Best wishes.

Yes, the 911 records remember everything that people do. If they just checked your house. That ain't nothing, they don't keep records of those, (too expensive), you'll probably get a bill in the mail though for response call though.
Cops like it when they show up and nothings wrong, gives them something to chuckle about between shifts. They got it tough out there and probably welcomed the break.

Yes they do keep them on file. It depends what the record retention time is for that police department as to how long it is kept. No, if you go to jail, they will not be checking the 911 records, that is unless you go to jail for something related to the 911 call.

In my PD your name and DOB will be on record forever, but it only shows that you reported a possible suspicious burglar. That's it. That record will never be accessed unless you're a victim of a crime or wrapped up in an investigation in some way.

You don't have anything to worry about. They will keep a record of it, but as long as it was a legitimate emergency, then you have nothing to worry about. Prank calling can lead to trouble. But it will not go on any kind of record etc.

Well now that we all know the story, don't worry about the rest of the world. It would not be connected to your life in this way.
They keep the record for future crime analysis etc.
