Traditionally the left if you're facing the altar. However I think this tradition is very outdated. I say let people sit whereever. After all the marriage is combining 2 people's lives so why not mix it up? It's also embarassing for some because either the bridge or groom may have a bigger family and/or many more friends attend than the other and when you look at pictures shot from the balcony it's hurtful for that one person to look at those photos of an uneven amount of people on one side and a very unbalanced photo to boot.

The left. When looking at the altar, the left. The Bride's family and friends sit on the side she is standing. The bride stands to the left of the groom.

When looking down the aisle of the church towards the altar, the bride's family will be on the left side.
