I have been told if you use proper protection, it protects you from the bad, dangerous rays, but you can still get tanned. I really don't know. If so, what is a good suntan lotion to use?

I usually use an spf 10 or 15. You'll tan, but a lot more slowly. It keeps me from burning though. I really like the coppertone continuous spray, because you just spray it on and go, you don't have to rub it in or get somebody to do your back.

UV rays are the one that give u a tan and they can be blocked by some sun block lotions, u have to check the label if u dont want the lotion to protect u from UV rays

Isn't a lotion technically one of those things that is supposed to help one tan, as opposed to sunscreen which screens the sun?

I try to use at least an SPF 20 or 30, especially this summer with the baby. (I'm five months pregnant; Due in September.) Also, the best sunscreens protect agains UVB and something else, which I should know. I have to know this soon as I'm going to start buying sunscreen soon. (I normally put it on, even for my walks.)

I don't always remember to put on sunscreen, so I do get some color. Eh.

You can but most people tend not to cuz that's to help stop tanning and burning...So not likely but you could try it just depends on your skin tone
