I recently learned of a family member that has removed herself and her children from the faith she, and they, have followed their entire lives, and it has caused some tension between some family members. But don't we all live under ONE God? Does it mean that they are less Christian because they are practicing another faith, and do we need to declare a particular faith to be a Christian? Isn't being a Christian as simple as receiving, and accepting, a gift from God. Does this gift come wrapped differently, depending on your faith?

From a Christian perspective:

Does Christ come wrapped differently, (as that is the gift you speak about in the Christian faith.)
Or do you mean the gift of salvation, which is through Christ in Christianity. Either way the bible is clear, The only way is through Christ.
There are several other faiths that have Christ in them, so does that mean we can chose another faith so long as Christ is in there somewhere....? Recognizing him is not enough....He must be sought out through redemption. Not just "recognized".

Suzan's parable: Yes, officer I recognized the speeding sign....isn't that enough? lol

Yours is a good question. But, remember this: In the Christian faith our bible clearly says not "add too" these words, nor take away. If the other religion does that by adding on "their own book(s)" than we can assume it is not of God/Jesus, as that would make him a hypocrite. He also says, not to have any other God's before him, nor worship them....There are many different Gods, If your Christian...we believe that there is a god of this world...known as Satan. There are other God's that are created through the love of Gold etc. When God/Jesus says to have no other gods before me, he means in the sense that...an object, or other entity becomes your focus of redemption.

On an agreeable note: There are many different "tribes" so to speak within the Christian faith, The Amish are one, Baptist, Episcopal etc. all of these fall under "Christian" so not to worry.

One thing is certain, if in their new found faith...they continue to pray to God/Jesus he will certainly reach out to them to clarify his word through prayer. Pray for them, that he reveals to them "if their way is true". :)

There are spiritual ignorant people in all faiths. What one needs to do is read Gods Word, Accept Christ, repent of their sins, and do the best they can in following Him. I see everyday in here where some people say "my priest said this or my priest said that, and it is right". However Spiritual Ignorance abounds in today's churches, and there are VERY FEW who teach the Word of God that knows anything about it to start with. A persons relationship with Christ IS personal, and one will grow by reading the Holy Scriptures, and through Prayer. Religion has become a money making endeavor to some, and one CANNOT buy Blessings and Favors from God. It is through the Heart that you Serve Him and Love Him.

I do understand what you are saying
if there is a God then yes I believe that we will all be looked upon the same and all welcome
however in Christianity is the belief that you have to be saved and accept Jesus as your saviour , to enter heaven

I dont believe this , like yourself
I believe that all faiths and religions are as valid as the next
a good person is a good person , despite what they believe

but Christians , I am afraid will disagree with you

I was brought up under one Christian religion and when I was 17 I changed to another Christian religion. I found the one I chose was much better for me and more friendly.
What you get is a better gift from God by being happier in the new church.

There are no degrees to Christianity. Either you are, or you are not. Believing in other gods is not Christianity. That is a very dangerous concept.

You would think, huh?

Unfortunately, too many Christians are too insecure in their faith to "allow" others to decide how they are going to follow God.

My family was a little tense when I first joined the LDS church, but they seem to have accepted that I am where I want to be, and I'm happy here.

what form of Christianity? Catholics and some Protestant sects trust contained in the Trinity (that Jesus IS god to boot as being the son of god). They actively worship Jesus. both Judaism and Islam (the different substantial Abrahamic religions) discover the concept of worshiping a guy abhorrent. Neither of them trust that the author of All ought to change into human nor die. Islam believes that Jesus replaced right into a prophet of god yet no longer the in straightforward words prophet. The Muslims even trust that Jesus did not die on the go; he replaced into miraculously whisked away and Judas died on the go somewhat. Little element out is made up of what got here about to him after. Judaism infrequently considers Jesus in any respect. To them he replaced into in basic terms one in each of many doom sayers and insights of riots in the course of the Roman occupation. He replaced into so insignificant that he did not even make it into any of the archives (the single account has been shown to be a forgery). Judaism also considers all and numerous to be the "children of God"; hence Jesus replaced into the son of god... similar to all and numerous else. upload: (First and 2d century) even as the Christians were busy making converts in Rome and writing the books of the recent testomony (such because the numerous who weren't in any respect made canon) the Jews were contained in the technique a huge warfare with Rome. The Jews lost and their united states (Israel) replaced into devastated. The capital city of Jerusalem replaced into actually leveled, and the holy temple replaced into destroyed. The Christians also threw out each and each of the Jewish teachings of "honest trial with witnesses" and "we are all loved children of god" replacing it with unique Sin and the fall. The Christians were gaining popularity and accepting extra Roman guidelines (and throwing out the Jewish ones). The Jews were codifying the Oral Torah/Talmud (something of the "previous testomony" that the Christian threw out) attempting to get it captured in writing formerly the Romans ought to end scattering them.. Later (4th century) the Early Christians were gathering the books of the recent testomony and voting on them, and the Jews were scattered in the course of the globe. Christianity grew to change into the religion of the Emperor and ALL of Rome. Jews and Pagans must be persecuted via them for the subsequent 1600 years. it truly is a lengthy time period.
