I know this sounds absurd but I need some extra hints on how to bring myself down a bit. I am running on high, thinking too much, no appetite.
What do you do to bring it down a notch.

Yes, it does feel good but it also has a degree of agitation (mixed state)- where I know I want to relax a little but I cant. The incessant thinking is so tiring.
Yes, I take my meds, I have a supportive partner and to date I have never done anything outrageous when up. I am also too jittery, agitated to concentrate on any project.

I am glad marijuana helps some people but it is not for me - thanks for the advice though.

Ok, the most reasonable thing to do is call your doctor. If you are getting manic, you need a medication change.

Better to stop it before it either gets out of control or you crash into a terrible depression.

Call the doctor.

First try to talk to someone close that is a really good friend or simple a good listener.

Though some ppl might be against this and depending on your character you might not wanna try it; marijuana might help you a lot.
2 things about that:
If your thinking a lot about one thing, then marijuana will help take your mind of that, on the flip side it might make it worst.
Your appetite will probably increase also, the infamous munchies.

If anything you will be more relaxed.
Do not take it if you have an addictive personality.
Obviously get it legally through a doctor or specialist.

Oh and most importantly take it with someone that can control you in the beginning until you get a handle on it.

that is what makes bipolar an illness.. it can not be controlled..
all you can do is have a plan of action set up for if your get too far out of control.. somebody takes my keys.. somebody takes my wallet.. and somebody sleeps on the couch.. all so I don't wander off and do anything regrettable.
They know enough not to take anything I say seriously.. and they all keep their distance so that my stupidity doesn't drive them crazy.
Find a creative outlet for all that extra energy.. do some research on a topic you have always wanted to explore.. fill up your computer by writing your mind out.. draw a picture or write a poem.. or song lyrics to the music in your head. I have done the math to figure out how long it would take to walk from Pluto to the surface of the sun.. learn to use it to your advantage and do the fun things that would not be possible if you were just a normal sheep like the rest of society.
It will pass... but do the best you can to take care of yourself until it does.. and have somebody close by to keep an eye on ya.
Edit.. Saw that other post below mine..
Marijuana only helps if you have the right kind.. there are 2 major subtypes.. indica and sativa.. one will mentally stimulate (bad bad bad) and the other will plant you on your couch.. If you don't know what you have.. don't take the chance with it. It is as simple as that.

Do no harm to yourself or others when manic; you will regret it. Do not cut as the other person says; you can get addicted. Try progressive relaxation, baths, walks, video games, play or walk with your dog, draw or paint even if not good with it. Get into some "mindful" housework. Even if you do not like housework you can choose to be involved mindfully in the process ie what textures do you feel, what do you hear, what do you smell while you do your chores. Do some yardwork in a mindful way. Basically use that energy and do something physical to release the tension, and go with the energy in a thoughtful, mindful way. When you "come down" you will not have regrets or guilt feelings but be proud of the fact that you were able to channel this thing into something good and non harmful.

Luck to you.

Hi, see a shrink and see if you can get a baby dose of Klonopin (or the generic version), like .5 mg. When I am a touch too high or anxious, I sometimes take only half of this. It's best not to mix it with alcohol!

If you're eating junkfood, lots of sugars and caffeine, cut back! These things make me hyper! And avoid coke (many people get kind of manic on it)

You can try adding meditation (this one can be hard if you're manic), foucsing on deep breathing (especially out in beautiful nature can be very healing), physical exercise (especially a sport you like, it has helped me burn extra energy), etc.

P.S. You don't sound like someone with full-blown mania, maybe you have a touch of it, like hypomania.Confirm with dr.

I should not say this, but I sometimes cut myself to come down. I felt compelled to answer this question, because it seems that all the answers I have read so far are telling you what to do, not stating what the bipolar kids do. Okay, anyway, I learned one lesson years ago - do not go to the Dr. when you are manic and have new cuts - the doc wanted to lock me up, so I ran away and avoided treatment for a year . =)

Alright, well good luck.

When I am up, I can create things, I can do anything! I love it.

Enjoy it and do all the things you want to, but try and wear your brain out, read loads, write loads, paint or whatever.

I wish I was up right now, I am just coming out of the biggest down I have ever had, which has lasted over 7 months, and taken me as low as I could possibly get, so I am looking forward to next month!

good luck and try the Bi-polar lounge group on Yahoo!

Many girls break up with their significant others, is because they need time to figure things out. Don't take it personally, if you want her back, you have to show her you can help her. If you love her then you'll let her go, that's it. Not everybody who you date in high school you end up staying with, the chances are extremely unlikely. So if she doesn't want to, then you need to let her go.

I should suppose that it is a individual physiological oscillation and try to get full yield from it.Sure the nature will soon bring you down.
But you do not say how long you are high
