I am not much of a michanic, but does a car need a working flywheel to work?

The only reason I want this pickup is cause it has syrans and hopfully it works without a flywheel.

The flywheel takes the power from the motor and maintains that energy as interial energy. You absolutely have to have a flywheel that works. It's not going anywhere without it.

yes, when you turn the ignition, the starter bendix engages and turns the flywheel, which is attached to the crankshaft and it is much needed to get your engine started..unless you can hand crank it..

If it doesnt have a flywheel/flexplate (automatic trans=flexplate), the vehicle will not move..
