If you're looking for traditional foods, all of the above would apply. Meat and 2 veg were always the standard. But typical English food these days could be anything from curry to sushi and everything in between.

Roast Beef, with roasted potatoes & yorkshire pudding.
Fish and Chips (sometimes with mushy peas)
English breakfast (sausage, egg, bacon, beans, black pudding, fried bread, toast and a cup of tea)
Shepards Pie,
Cottage Pie,
Sausages (bangers) and mash
Stews and hotpots
Pies and Pasties
Cheeses
Plus hundredds of deserts
English food has a bad reputation from the time during and after ww2 when food was ractioned heavily and people made do with what they could. Everyone who I have introduced it to always raves about how good it is (this includes French, australian and Americans).

In the Isle of Man, which is mid way between England and Ireland, after a night out all the girls (and boys) order 'chips and cheese' from the burger van. I've never heard of it anywhere else.
