Ciner in cinerem

In Latin, the singular (ciner) was used for ashes, which we use as a plural. There was one exception - the Latin plural was used for the ashes from a cremation. If you want to say 'ashes from a cremation' to plain ashes, it's:

Cineres in cinerem.
