It wasn't until only recently (the last hundred or so years) that women have been taken more respectfully in life that they can do everything men can, just as well, and in some cases, even better.
Thousands of years ago, and when the bible was still being written, women were still portrayed as nothing more than house wives who's sole purpose in life was to have children and honour their husband - in short, they were the second class citizens of the world.
You should also understand that the bible was written in the Islamic nations at the time (and predominantly still), where women were viewed as nothing more than slaves, in a sense and didn't have any rights to speak of as they do these days.

According to the Bible, there are no women taken by Jesus as his deciple,His deciples are 12 men.
Yet, there are no women prophecy which were appointed by God to translate the word of God in the Scripture.
