Depends on what kind of air conditioner you want. If y ou can get away with it I suggest a window air conditioner. They are really cheap, work really well, and very economical.

If you're looking for a window unit, then GE makes a pretty good one. I've had mine for years and years and it requires very little maintenence. Friedrich and Whirlpool also make some pretty solid window units.

If, however, you're looking for a solid outdoor unit, then it is true that "nothing stops a Trane". That's what we use at my work. In fact, my dad was a builder for 30 years and he preferred the Trane products.

i would say it's kelvinator it's what i'm using at home..it's a good one..goodLuck!
