But I think 82 quid a month is a bit steep. Does anyone know a cheaper company that are as trustworthy as BUPA??

When I investigated, BUPA was by far the cheapest although they although they all seem to start off cheap and then increase their prices. Depending on which country you are in, you don't necessarily need health insurance. You need to see what the reciprocal arrangements are between the UK and that country so see what you are covered for exactly and also check out the standard of healthcare in a non-private facility and see if you would be happy with it. I always had excellent treatment in Germany for example without any private insurance, just with the old E111 form. I even got dental work for free although it was a few years ago and things might have changed. It wouldn't have been free in the UK.

You could try PPP or ask your employer if he would be willing to pay it as a group scheme works out much cheaper - although you will still have to pay tax on it.

Or you can always pay as you go. My daughter needed a minor operation when she was a baby which we paid £1,500 for to have it done quickly as she was in a lot of pain. We thought it was worthwhile . Your £82 per month (which will go up as you get older or make a claim) equates to £984 per year and £9,840 for 10 years which pays for quite a lot of treatment in itself. Your state of health is of course relevant as is whether you have any hobbies/play sports which could make it more likely that you get injured.

I'm also in Bupa and my motto is, 'don't compromise good health insurance to save a few quid', you only get one life and in my opinion Bupa is great.
I personally would not bother looking.
Good luck though if you are wanting to change, just make sure read the small print and get the same level of cover for your money.
Hope it works well for you.

Medical insurance is all expensive and if you have the the same problem twice you are on your own the third time.

It depends which country you are living in, you could take advantage of the reciprocal stuff.
