the operational nukes in the world arsenals range for .3 to 500 kilotons, the Hiroshima nuke was around the 15 kiloton range. The following site calculates the radius impact damage to the cities of Reno, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Seattle, Tampa, Tucson and, of course, Washington, DC:

This interactive tool is intended to give an idea of the devastating blast effects of ground-level, shallow subsurface, and low-altitude nuclear weapon detonations. It is relevant to traditional nuclear weapons, potential terrorist attacks, and next generation nuclear weapons such as "Bunker Busters" or "Robust Nuclear Earth Penetrators" (RNEPs).

This is wll within the technical competence of many nations, but it would be a disaster of unprecedented dimensions if somebody does let off a bomb as not much would be left of this small nation with the destructive capacity of modern bombs compared to the Nagasaki/Hiroshima Bombs in World War II,such an event can only bring calamity to the entire world!

The Nukes that hit Hiroshima and Nagasaki were 13 Kiloton Atom Bombs. They obliterated over 1.3 square miles and killed people in the blast up to 5 miles away.

Today, we have 150 MEGAton Hydrogen Bombs.

(Atom Bombs are Fission, Hydrogen are Fusion)

13kt is equal to 13,000 tons of TNT.
150megaton is equal to 150,000,000 tons of TNT.

----------
To the person below me. An EMP Pulse knocks out electricity. I fail to see how that could cause more death than the bomb itself. It might cause a few deaths of people who are weak (Hospitalized, Pace Makers, Etc.) but other than that, there is nothing else it could do.

EMP stands for Electro Magnetic Pulse.

A real big nuke can devestate thousands of sqare miles of land, but will only create a crater a few miles across. It can't pulverize enough ground to put millions of square miles under sea level. Something that big would probably wipe out all life on earth.

I think a nuke could destroy Malaysia, sure, why not.
I do not wish that on them, but then again I do not wish that on anyone.
Nukes can wipe out a bunch at once, and if one nuke won't do it, launch a bunch of em at the same target..

With all the nukes in our arsenal, do you really think we'd ever launch just one?

yes due to the effect of the shcok wave everything would be gone. If there were survivors they would die from radiation poisoning.

However a emp pulse can be the real killer in cetain areas than the nuclear bomb itself.
