They are always telling us atheists that we will go to hell because we don't believe in God or jesus or whatever. What the hell is up with that? Do we tell you that if you don't believe in evolution natural selection will turn you back into a Chimpanzee? No...

I'm a theist, and I've never told an atheist any such thing. I have always respected the rights of atheists to believe, or to not believe, whatever they like.

Focus on this. A real you living a real life in a real world right now. "Consider that GOD is all about meeting your needs completely. Consider that GOD sent each one of us the Spirit of truth for this express purpose. The advantages of tapping in to this resource are tremendous with no downside even if there was no afterlife. Would you really prefer to stumble along occasionally sort of getting what you need or want? Do you prefer not really being sure of anything?

um... your analogy doesn't really make sense. people going to hell if they don't believe in god is totally consistent with the christian stories, but people turning back into chimps is totally not consistent with evolution. evolution doesn't work that way, whereas that's how heave and hell are supposed to work.

but threatening ppl with a fictional punishment that they don't believe in is still stupid and pointless, just not because of your evolution analogy. they do it because they have no rational argument and no realistic threat so they try to scare you with the meaningless crap they believe, but it's totally circular because it's only scary if you already believe it in which case they don't have to scare you into believing it. but since they don't have anything better to say they do it anyway.

They beleive it. Further more their tribal god-images will punish them if they don't constantly remind people about the reward/punishment of the afterlife. Really seems silly to me to actually worry about what is going to happen to you AFTER you die!
