The term blephar-itis simply means inflamed eye lid or swollen eyelid. Any swelling of the lid can be technically termed as blepharitis. There may be several reasons for a swollen eyelid and thus must be treated according to the source of the swelling.

Secondly, you must understand that the eye and the eye lid are very senstive structures. Home remedies and herbal medications and anything of the sort have NO ROLE in the treatment of eye problems.

If the blepharitis is from an infection, you will need an appropriate anti-biotic. If it is from allergy, you must avoid the allergen and an anti-allergic medication. If it is neither an infection or allergy, it might be seborrheic blepharitis in which case proper lid hygiene and warm compress can help.

Either way, you should see a board-certified ophthalmologist so you can be properly examined and treated accordingly.

Don't do anything with sea-shells et, you could be allergic and this would cause you a bigger swelling.
Just use some soft compresses with chamomile infusion.
Also you could use eye drops, or even better eye ointment, it helps if there is an infection (even on the lid). Ask your pharmacist and be patient.
