Why do people constantly go back and forth to the fridge hoping something will materialse so they can eat?

Actually, it might not be because they believe that something will materialize as much as they are trying to figure out what they really need to munch on, or, perhaps, they aren't even thinking, but simply wandering while focusing on something else!

I can't speak for anyone else, but I know that when I engage in this behavior (!), it's because I'm hoping that something that's already in there will finally tempt me... And, sometimes, it happens that I realize that two or more neutral items will make a taste-bud tantalizing combo...like fresh peeled baby carrots dipped in peanut butter. Hey, don't knock 'em 'til you try 'em!

They are hoping that someone, like you, will notice and put something in there while they are away for a moment. That's what I assume at least. It's the only logical reason, unless you're stupid :D.
