We haven't lost. The only way we can lose is if we quit. That's why Dems are so desperate for us to quit.

In this case, "lost" implies the US failed to meet its political objective: generally accepted as establishing a paradigm of democracy in the Middle East in an effort to spread western democracy and freedom throughout the region. It is believed this would reduce instability and violence in the region and reduce radical fundamentalism terrorist activity worldwide.

At this point the US has failed to meet this objective. But, similar to a sports tournament, just because there is one loser, it does not mean there is only one winner. To "win" in Iraq, a country or a people must meet their strategic objective (i.e., obtain ruling power, establish a puppet government, obtain rights to oil fields, etc.). Consequently, there can be more than one winner, and that has not been determined between the other "players"(Iran, Al-Sadr, Al-Qaeda, Syria, etc.)

So, the US is only one of many "players" in a political-economic struggle, and while it may have "lost" (debatable), only time will tell who the "winners" will be.

According the John Kerry, I got myself stuck in a war because I'm uneducated, so I'm really confused by this.

I can't figure out why Harry Reid would vote to keep me in a war if I've already lost it. I also can't figure out how he can consider that supporting me.

Let me rephrase that for you.

I'm riding with you in a car. You steer the car off a cliff. While we are in the air plummeting to our deaths, you say "What's your plan for getting us out of this situation?"

No one has won. This foreign policy decision was a failure. If you want a victory, we achieved the stated goals of Mr. Bush's "permission slip" (the "authorization of force" that congress gave Bush). Hussein is no longer in power, Iraq is no longer a "clear & present danger to the sovereign power of the United States".

Now it is time to get my fellow service members out of the middle of a civil war. Why should they continue to die? That is the "lost the war" that democrats & even a few republicans are talking about.

Here's my plan. Declare victory & leave. Let them fight it out, we can take the "winner" out of power any time we want to.

That's an excellent question. No one won. Everyone lost. Even the radical Muslim terrorists lost because their goal, though they don't realize it, is to lose. They manner by which they choose to live their lives is not an evolutionarily sustainable strategy. The more they win, the more they lose...

The winners: Those who benefit from a world economy standardized by emergency The losers: Those who unwittingly support either side with their money or their lives.
