He's a little on the late side, but he's not breaking any records. Some babies start walking much later than others, though it's a good idea for him to be going to an Orthopedic physician.

Wow!! My son started walking when he was 9 months old!! I would definitely take the baby to the doctor you can never be too careful... I know that all babies mature at different times but 16 months seems kinda old for not walking I mean all the babies I've been around have been walkin by the age of one year. Something just doesnt seem right to me. Good luck and I will pray that everything turns out ok :)

My son is 3 now, but he did not start walking till he was 18 months old. he just never put the effort out. everyone else would just cater to him, get him anything he asked for. but once he started there was no stopping him. He will be fine. but go to the doctor just in case. good luck!

97 percent of children walk by 18 months of age.
So what does that mean?
It means that your friend's child is still under that limit.
It also means that there are 3 percent of children who walk after 18 months and this would still be considered normal.
However, I think your friend's healthcare provider would probably want to do a detailed assessment of the child if he really is not walking by 18 months - in order to look for and rule out any possible problems that might be there.

My son starting walking at 13months he took his first step at 11 months after that he wouldn't walk. It could be he's scared just keep working with and helping him sooner or later he'll walk not all babies develop at the same time

Some babies learn at different paces then the norm. My nephew didn't talk until he was almost 18 months, but is perfectly normal and fine now.

80% of babies around the world first start walking between 14-18months.. some babies don't walk til 2yrs.. some start at 7months (like mine and trust me itaint fun lol).. can he stand with help? if he can support his weight with you balancing him or holding on to the couch etc then he's fine and he'l get there in his own time :)

anything up to 20 months is normal. My son walked at 17months. Nothing wrong with him (except maybe laziness, he liked to be carried) if he is pulling himself up and walking around furniture i would not be worried

They say about 15 months but as long as he is sitting, pulling himself up, walking along things, then don't worry it will happen SOON!
