Use salamanders because they evolved into lizards because they started to move farther from the water and needed to develop skin that would stand up against the weather.

Anything you would like - an uninformed parody of evolution is no more ignorant than the assumptions which underpin evolution - assumptions which fly in the face of modern biochemistry and genomics.
