This is simple. If you have corrective eye surgery that just burns the cornea, then there is no problem. You will have to wait until the healing is complete, and then apply for the position. You have to have 20/10, uncorrected, in both eyes to qualify.
HOWEVER, you have had the corrective surgery where the cornea is LIFTED from the eye, and the bottom is scraped, then you do NOT qualify.
Reason, the cornea could, conceivably, pop off at sudden decompression.

If you have laser eye surgery, you cannot be a fighter pilot. Fighter pilots are exposed to a much greater gravitational force than the average person, and they don't know if a surgically altered eye can stand up to that amount of pressure. They'd rather not find out the hard way.

You can possibily be a pilot in the USAF if you have had PRK.
But only PRK. All other types are non wavierable.
You have to get PRK on your own, the AF will not pay for it.
You must wait one year after receiving PRK before training.
You have to have gotten PRK before you apply for pilot training.
Only 10% of available slots can be filled by candiates requiring a PRK wavier.
As with everything else, this policy is subject to change.
If the AF starts noticing problems with PRK, they will certainly ban it again.

laser eye surgery people cannot be pilots. Also you don't have to have natural 20/20 vision, as long as it's no worse than + or - 8.0 and correctable to 20/20. also far sight no worse than 20/70.
