If you have a Gold's Gym near you, I'd suggest going there. They have personal trainers that are very knowledgable on fitness and dieting.

In fact, when you sign up, you get 3 FREE visits with a personal trainer. He or she will evaluate your fitness level, and will set you up with a workout that will meet your goals. Once you're free sessions are up though, it'll cost you around $60 an hour for a trainer.

Of course, there's always the ladie's workout centers like Curves. They are good for beginners, but I wouldn't recommend them for the long haul. Places like those lack cardio during the workouts.
