I am confused about a few things. First off, if we evolved from monkies, where do you propose the monkies came from?
Also are monkies that are on the earth now just waiting to evolve into humans?
I am not trying to be sarcastic or demean your beliefs, I am just genuinely curious about some of this stuff because I was talking to someone about evolution earlier.
Thanks for your time!!!!

I don't like the term "monkey" for a couple of reasons. First of all, if you are referring to a chimpanzee, a chimpanzee is an ape, not a monkey (there is a difference). Second, humans did not evolve from "monkies," "monkies" and humans evolved from a common ancestor. A lot of people don't understand what a common ancestor is, if you don't just imagine a tree. The trunk is the common ancestor and the branches are "monkies" and humans. As for the question about monkies waiting to evolve into humans-evolution is not planned, it just happens. It isn't predetermined from their genes what they'll evolve into. They'll just evolve to meet the needs of new environments and circumstances. Hope this helps.

We DID NOT evolve from monkies...we had an ancestor back in bygone days (ie millions of years ago) that later evolved into different ways, one eventually leading to monkeys of today.....then after another few million years we shared a common ancestor with the apes (which we are much more closely related to genetically)...over the last 10million years or so apes have changed and so have the humans.....remember we did come out looking like this straight away....

Remember apes have never walked on 2 legs....but there are many different species (ie around 20 so far) that have been found that could walk on 2 legs....only 1 speices was a success...us...as all the others have died out. some of these were not considered to be "missing links" to us either, but another branch that evolved into something that was not able to compete in the world at the time and died out.

So monkey can;t suddenly turn into humans.....it could be possible that some apes MAY possibly form features that are more human than they are now, its completely chance what turns up and if its likely to fit in and be an advantage...if its not an advatage it won't be seen agian most liekly

Well, I think a lot of people have different ideas about how we got here on earth. I tend to look more on the scientific evidence as more plausible and of course that supports evolution. I believe that all living things evolved from cells that continued to evolve into what we now see as all living things.
The question is where did the cell come from? That's the big mystery. I feel comfortable with the idea that there is a higher power that is somewhere out there. I believe there is a hereafter, but I'm just not sure what that is. I grew up in a very religious christian family. I believe there is merit in just about all religions, I don't believe there's any religion that shouldn't be respected by others who don't practice it.
Thanks

Humans and apes have common ancestor, we both came from an animal that no longer exists. That animal also evolved from other animals. I'm not sure how many organisms there were when life first started. But the organism evolved into many different animals. Some became to be complex like an animal and others simple like a bacteria. All of it was a matter of chance and survival.

See ,if i ask u where is the starting point of the circle, what would u say. Same way evolution does not have a beginning nor an end , it's a continuous process. It's just bcoz of the parameters we r familiar with that we want to see a start and stop to something. Just as we r familiar with four dimensions[3 dimensions+time] only, we can only think of evolution happening within the boundaries of these 4 dimensions. But there are millions of other dimensions which can be realized only in higher states of evolution. Evolution is happening in those dimensions as well ,deep within our consciousness there are subtle changes taking place which are difficult to realize in our present state. Like the DNA of a person gets transferred to his future generations the evolutionary imprint is embedded in our consciousness and is carried with the soul as it leaves the body. The process is again continued in the next lifetime.

Humans came from apes, apes from monkeys and monkeys from lemurs. Then we keep going through prehistoric mammals till you come to something that was sort of mammal and sort of reptile. They were becoming pure mammals as dinosaurs were evolving. Before that, we were many different kinds of lizards and before that something like salamanders. These salamanders evolved from fish. Go back far enough and we were probably something like leaches or jelly fish. Farther back yet and we were microscopic and it starts with single cell organisms. Keep evolving backwards and we are now over 4 billion years back and we are a common ancestor to plants, funges, and present single celled organisms.

Now, how did this life come into being 4 billion plus years ago? That is what no one can answer and the wonder of life is not diminished.

Life isn't heading for any particular form. It evolves as it responds to changing enviroments. Our ape ancestors found themselves with less forest and had to move out of the trees. But they couldn't move around very good on their nuckles, so they stood up and walked upright. But todays apes or monkeys arn't neccessarily evolving in exactly our direction.

We had a common ancestor with monkeys.
All life started out simple millions of years ago and gradually changed, branched out, and became more complex.
It is possible that monkeys of today will evolve into an animal of equal intelligence to humans, but that animal will not be human.
The person who told you that we evolved from monkeys does not know about evolution, and is not a reliable source.

This question has been asked so many times, that I named my avatar after it.

A. We do not evolved from monkies, read your book correctly.

B. Monkies evolved from single cell organism over millions of years to form multiple cells.

C. Where is the part of where does these single cell organism come from?

first off, you should ask the biology section, they would know better.

Apes (not monkeys) came from "lower", or just older, forms of mammals. After the dinosaurs went extinct from an asteroid around 65million years ago, small rodent-like mammals were able to thrive in the new climate/food chain, and evolution took place.

The monkeys that are currently on earth are just as far evolved as we are, they just took a different route. Somewhere along the line (or tree more accurately), different groups of our common ancestor got so separated geographically that different forces acted on them, causing different mutations to be more valuable in each group. Over millions of years, the differences became so great (about 2% genetically) that we became different species altogether.

It's hard to imagine, but it doesn't rely on human imagination. I promise, it's real. Seriously, ask the biology section, or geology, or any other science section about creation myths.

Well, ALL of us came from a single celled organism that divided on it's own and made clusters.

Humans come from a cell that is invaded by another cell that makes clusters

The basic tenants of SCIENCE is that INORGANIC chemicals got together and somehow magically formed ORGANIC chemicals known as RNA that formed single cell life that formed complex life, that formed plants and animals and fishes, that formed monkies that formed humans.

All of this was an ACCIDENT

Religious people believe in a higher form of life (God) who created all inorganic and organic matter (like WE created IPODS and TV sets) and made all the plants, animals and man.

MAN was a separate entity

Some Scientists also believe MAN was a separate entity and not dervied from Monkey

Some believe we were derived from Monkey

NO proof FOR ANY OF THESE THEORIES concretely exists.

Free will
YOU choose

What do YOU want to beleive

That you are an ACCIDENT

That you come from Monkey

or that you were Created by a smarter being as an individual

You're choice

Free will!
