I really think you should confront him. My son is ten but is a competition nut and we have caught him cheating at board games. We confronted him and told him that the Lord sees all things even if we, his parents, don't. We told him that it is hard to trust him if he chooses to continue in this behavior and that he has disappointed us. We punished him and he apologized to those he cheated. I think the punishment should be more severe. What did you do last time?

Make an appointment with the teacher in the class where he cheated, let them know you will be bringing your son to discuss what you found.
Tell your son to meet you at the school office and then say nothing and lead him to the meeting. Explain to the teacher what you found, bring it, show them. Ask what the teacher would suggest be done; failing grade, suspension, etc. There are school policies for this type of behavior and some teachers have additional classroom policies too. He should get whatever can be thrown at him.
I suggest you also start to take things away; car, bike, TV, computer, iPod, etc. Things that really make his life great. Take them away indefinately, he has to prove to you he is not doing this any longer. Put him back on restriction too, for the rest of the school year.

I don't do "restrictions" I don't do "grounding" I would simply call his teacher and let her grade his paper accordingly. When my daughter was in highschool one teacher had a shredder in his classroom. Never told the students why because he never seemed to use it. Until one day after a test, two students who cheated were the victims of a "shredding". And they got an incomplete on their report cards because their finals didn't get graded.
And to those who cheated while in highschool and THINK they can get away with it in college...My daughter is in college, if they get caught cheating in class they CAN be dropped from the class completely, being given an incomplete for the entire semester thereby having to retake the entire semester...that is IF any of the other instructors in that subject will ALLOW them in class. Many colleges have adopted the "No tolerance" policy on cheating these days. I LOVE it.

I don't know if this is what you want, but here goes..........First did he get an 'A' on the subject? If so, and you really want to sock it to him.....make a HUGE deal out of it. Throw a surprise party for the good grade, invite a couple of his friends, make sure the family is there. Have him give a speech just before your light the candles. If there is something he has been wanting for a while; i.e.; a movie, a game, a cd and so on....get it for him. Just put a real emphasis on the fact that he is getting all of this because of his good grade.
Hope whatever you do works for you!

If you've got the time, then I suggest making him earn the marks that he got on the test. If you betray him by telling on him, he may not trust you the way a child needs to trust a parent. I.e. if he sees a friend doing something bad, he will not tell you about it even if he feels you need to know. I would prefer to let him know I was aware of what happened. He could deny or remain silent, but I would give him 3 days (or whatever is more reasonable depending on the subject/material) and write up a new test. He needs to ace that test to regain my trust.

i just got out of school, and cheating is life. Everyone in school cheats sometime, maybe you should talk to the teacher and see if your son can be moved up to where he (the teacher) is? or maybe since your son is getting away with cheating maybe you should question the teachers tactics, bc i know that i had teachers who just did not give a crap and those teachers should be FIRED. so talk to the teacher and see why he is getting away with it and if he can be moved closer to the teacher.

Print out a new cheat sheet with all the wrong answers, and replace the one in his pocket.

I would cut him some slack and next time he has a test, study with him and drill him till you know that he knows all the answers, then he wont have to cheat
