"Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. 15These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It's only nine in the morning! 16No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17" 'In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
18Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
and they will prophesy.
19I will show wonders in the heaven above
and signs on the earth below,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
20The sun will be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
21And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved.'[c]

It is a gift given by God so that we can tell if something is from Him or not. It is very important because many wolves will come in sheep's clothing teaching false doctrines to lead many astray to fill their own bellies, while doing to work of their Father, the Father of all lies.

There are many ways to exercise this gift. For one, reading our Bible. Two, go to a Biblically sound Church. Three, evangelize, this gift will rise to the surface when dealing with lost souls. Fourth, by praying and having a real relationship with God by communication. Fifth, being obedient to God's Word and His Holy Spirit. Sixth, keep seeking the presence of God. Seventh, living a Spirit filled and balanced life that is pleasing unto God, by pruning sin from one's life. May we all grow in this speacial gift so that we can help ourselves and others grow closer to the Lord.

I think discernment grows as the person walks with God and has faith. Not every one is at the same place with that so we must be careful not to judge one another. I also believe that there is much more then just spiritual discernment. I believe that there is a greater need for deliverance and healing. Not the counter fit stuff that's going on.

I certainly didn't have any when I walked into a church for the first time in years. I attended a church that was in the home and it was more of a closer setting which was nicer then going to one in a huge building where you get lost and can't find your way.

That was my first actual church I choose as an adult through the help of prayer. I can remember exactly how I was and I certainly lacked in spiritual discernment. I said things that were out of order and the kindest thing that any one ever did for me was to love me as I was and pray for me. That I will never forget.

I think that there are too many books and guides that people write about topics. The bible should be the only book we read and ask for God's guidance on. Some are helpful but they shouldn't be put first over God's word. Not to say that outside materials can't be helpful but I have found in some churches it would seem that they put too much faith in what others write. God/Jesus/ HolySpirit/Bible is where our faith should be and outside authors/men come second.

I have been to crusades where as the man is looked upon and not Jesus.

Spiritual Discernment: A gift given to man by God, that allows man through "Wisdom" the ability to detect the true nature of those things that appear to be obvious and are yet veiled in Illusion.
Solomon, being a prime example.

Spiritual discernment is how to see God's hand in all creation, it's not merely seeing it, though it is rarely seen before it is discerned some, but also gradually coming to recognise Gods hand as your own hand in God, to recognise that the spirit you see is within.

For example there is spirit in intelligent design, it was discerned to be seen, no doubt, but why is it not discerned as the spirit being _in he who sees_ this hand of the creator? Discern that this Intelligent design *is* the spirit within the servant of God, and it is seen that no contradiction is found between God and his creation anywhere.

Anywhere there is contradiction, discernment may be what is lacking in the knowing servant of God, rather than in his questioner. The questioner is focussed on earth matters, it is unwise to expect his spiritual discernment to fix your contradiction, he has none, it's unwiser yet to tarry with arguing the physical with him thinking god would expect that of you when what God asked for is spiritual discernment from you rather.

spiritual discernment, I believe, is a gift. Everyone doesn't have it. I believe everyone knows when something is 'just not right' but spiritual discernment is more like the ability to point out or identify a specific spirit whether its good or bad...don't take my word for it..

Discernment is knowing what spirit you are dealing with, either of itself, or on/in someone.
