I have a terrible toothache that I have been taking XTRA strength Tylenol for, and the pain keeps coming back. I know that I need to go to a dentist and get it looked at but I do not have the $$ to do that with. I am 24yrs old, and the pain is unbelieveable. The tooth already is crowned with a silver top, but I was wanting to know if I went to an MD (medical doctor) if they could pull it.. I do not care about saving this tooth becasue it is in the back of my mouth where if they did pull it; it would not be a major problem to my already low self esteem. Plz help!

If you are in the US, many states have community health centers with dental clinics. They often do free or low fee care, based on one's ability to pay.

Check out the following website, enter your state, then city/county, and then start calling around to find out which facilities have dental clinics.

Nope MD nor emergency room will not pull it, unless they have a dental surgeon or dentist on staff. Which they usually don't. However you can do a few things in the mean time. Tylenol is good for some types of pain, however Ibuprofen (Advil) or Naproxen? (Aleve) may work better. As long as you are not allergic to either one. You can also try Orajel though by this point I don't know how much it will help. If the pain gets really terrible you can alternate the Advil and the Tylenol. Example take two x-tra strength tylenol, and then four hours later take two Advil, and so on. However don't take more than two x-tra strength tylenol at a time as it can be bad for your liver. You can at least visit your doctor and have him/her prescribe an antibiotic and a pain reliever Don't wait too long though an infected tooth is nothing to play with, it can be dangerous.

Look, you need a course of antibiotics and then a trip to an oral surgeon. You may not like this, but in reality you are actually in very real danger of infecting other parts of your body, particularly your heart valves, which you may care about in a ten or so years.
Go to an ER and get a script for some meds. This will buy you a few days so you can maybe contact your county health authorities who will guide you to a dental expert who will take care of this for you at little or no cost. If you have a crown, you cannot pull the tooth yourself as it is anchored into the bone. Maybe you can call the dentist who did your crown and get a referral over the phone. Call, explain your situation financially. There are services available for people in your situations, unfortunately, there is no way of telling you exactly who to call to get help because I don't live in your town. I do know such services exist. Call your county health services. And do something about this really quickly. You have no idea what sorts of infections such things have caused.

See a dentist as soon as you can! I knew a person who had a toothache that just got worse. She put off going to the dentist and the infection spread to her brain! She DIED!!! From a toothache!!!!!! Usually it's not like that- but, who wants to take the chance! Meanwhile, rinse your mouth with saltwater.

Your local medical doc may prescribe u meds for the tooth, but they will not pull it.
Go to your local health department and ask about dental
clinics, they may pull it free or for 10 bucks.
But if it is a curved root they will not fool with it, u will have
to see an oral surgeon.
Put a teabag on it or dip honey on a teabag and place on it.
Use sensitive toothpaste.

Sometimes, depending on ur area, emergency rooms do have dentists on staff. They may or may not pull it depending on how severe it is. But I would suggest looking in the phone book for any dental colleges in ur area. Sometimes they do it for free or very low $. Or dental offices offer payment plans.

A MD couldn't pull it. They would just refer you to a dentist. Is it a cavity? If so, you can get anbesol to numb it for a while. Also, if it's a big cavity, you can put dental wax there until you can see a dentist.
