Print your signs in HUGE, bold letters - most are too small to see while driving. Put some kind of identifying mark on each sign that is the same so people can easily find your sale - a flower, street name, etc.
Hang all clothes, group same sizes together, price them individually but offer a discount for multiple purchases. Clothes lying on the ground don't sell.
Have plenty of plastic grocery bags on hand for purchases.
Decide whether your goal is to make money or to get rid of things - knowing that ahead of time makes haggling easier. If someone doesn't want to pay your price, plan to offer something else with it - espeically with pricey items.
Put a few items out with a big FREE sign on them - or make a FREE table.
Have an inexpensive receipt book handy just in case.
Use an extension cord so people can try electronics.

--Get a lot of bills to keep on hand for change. Also get coins. A lot of people forget this important part.
--KEEP TRACK of what you sell!
--Keep the prices low but be prepared to bargain.
-- Start early. When I say early, I mean around 7:00/7:30. There are some hardcore shoppers out there.
-- Advertise. Get the word out. Put an ad in the paper, plaster the neighborhood, and make sure people know YOUR house is where the sale is. You won't get people if you don't advertise.
-- Check with your city and HOA.
-- Prepare for things that don't sell. You won't be keeping them (hopefully) so where will they go?

In my opinion, start by laying out the stuff so you can start the sale at 07:00. Sell until about noon, if people are still coming steady keep selling, if they are cruising by and don't stop it is time to give it up. What ever is left take it to a local Thrift store. Bargain with people, it's fun and the stuff has to go anyway. Have lots of nickles, quarters and one dollar bills. Oh and smile a lot.

Separately would be good, but you'll ALOT of people are going to try and get you to take less no matter what you price it! I have found that sometimes not pricing some stuff is good so they will ask what you want for it. Also, for multiple items like t shirts, shorts etc, you can just put up a sign that say "all shirts on this table, 50 cents" Good Luck!

#1 if you are having a garage sale is to label everything at TWICE THE PRICE YOU WANT..... The object of garage saleing is to bargin things down. I know, I go to 20-30 garage sales almost every weekend and I never pay the price that is listed......Takes all the fun out of it....Nuf Said

Best bet is to have all items priced before hand....
Have plenty of table room or hanger racks for clothes...
Organize....Dislay pleasantly, it draws more people to stop....
Also~ Have a lot of cash /change on hand for the big day... Suprisingly, people like to bring $20s and spend $3 bucks !
GOOD LUCK !

Price nothing under a dollar, so you don't have to fiddle w/ change. For things worth 50 cents or less, bundle and tape them together and price them a dollar.
Welcome early birds! Start at 5 or 6 AM, and end at 10 or 11 AM. Dont' waste your entire day sitting out there for a couple bucks after late morning.

Put prices on all items. It's a hassle to keep asking prices if they are not priced. Signs around the neighborhood, someone to help, lots of change. Beware of people who change prices.
