No - and the church is not what most think it is either. It most certainly is NOT a building, so I am completely mystified as to why most American Christians meet in a temple and call it a church...the church is a gathering of believers.

I know that, at funerals, the Catholic Church sells mentions at future masses to help get them out of purgatory. It is one of those silly things out of the middle ages. Of course, it works. There are many gullible that hope their own soul will be bought out of purgatory. Maybe you'd better have a lot of Catholic friends.

Jesus got angry and threw over tables of the vendors at the Temple. I think that should speak for itself.
"Things" is a bit bland. We sell bracelets for Relay for Life (for finding a cure for cancer). I don't think that's a sin. I think it just depends. Who's gaining?

It must also be wrong to accept donations in the church. The next time the basket is passed around, take it directly to someone who needs it, perhaps a starving child.

It would probably bring Jesus back from the dead to turn over your table...if this is your desired effect, go for it.
