no one will take your kids away because of a OCD. And no-one's gonna think your crazy. Especially your doctor..

I had a similar experience after I gave birth to my first child. It was hell...I think I know exactly how you feel. I also suffered from it as a child...and hadn't had problems in years and years until the exhaustion and stress of new motherhood left me kind-of vulnerable, I think.

Anyway, I know it's really hard to explain to people what you're going through...I don't think I completely confided in anyone, but I did go to a psychiatrist and tell him, "I am depressed and KNOW I have OCD...help me!" Of course I had to get into some detail, but I kept some things to myself...Anyway, he prescribed Zoloft. It helped. Not overnight, but it did help...eventually I felt strong enough to get off of it completely and have been fine.

You'll be fine, you're not evil. I know you're a good person and good mom, the rest of it is just noise in your head.

Also, Google "Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder", you'll find some comforting information. You are not alone in this. Hang in there, it'll be okay.

You are going to probably hear from a lot of people who can relate to you, and I imagine a lot of them are going to be young mothers. OCD is nothing to be ashamed about. You're lucky that you recognize it in yourself. The more you read about this problem, the more you'll realize that stress is a big catalyst in bringing symptoms back up. Anxiety can cause you to start feeling the OCD again because you're trying to control your stressful environment. With the medical privacy laws, you should not feel worried or ashamed to go to your family doctor or obgyn. Talk to them about your feelings at your next appointment, or schedule one. No one is going to find out about your symptoms unless you tell them. The doctor will probably prescribe you an antianxiety to take when you feel the OCD rushing at you. Don't feel embarrassed. You're not alone at all with this. And noone is going to take your children away from you. You'll feel like fresh and more in control again. Just take little steps and seek advice and medical help. You owe it to yourself to call the doctor. I know women of all ages who need help with these things

Probably the hormonal imbalance that occurred while and after you were pregnant triggered the OCD.
Your body may regulate it itself now that you have stopped having children. Since you have 3 children, your body hasn't had time to get back to its pre- pregnant state and your state of mind as well.
Don't be afraid to seek help. I don't think you are in any danger of losing your children. I am sure you are a great mom with a chemical imbalance that occurs in millions of women /moms in the world.
Think about all of the women that go through severe post -partum depression---I bet they still have their children.
Much luck!

I guess it depends what sort of an ocd and how severe it is,but it is good that you have support from your husband. If it effects you whilst you are out then you might consider going back on medication, perhaps talking to a trained counsellor might help you out.

Listen, I've seen things from this one school of thought that modern psychiatry would classify as a miracle.

Go to www.dianetics.org, find the facility nearest you, and get ONE processing session - you'll be blown away at the results.

They are not going to take your kids away from you if they see you are doing the right thing and getting help, so I think you should definitely go to the Doc.
