Try to clean the wound with peroxide. It will keep it from getting infected. I don't think there is much you can do about the swelling. It should go away. Just try not to let him go back outside right away. Also try to find the cat that bit him to make sure it looks healthy. If it looks sick it may have rabies. If your cats injury doesn't heal there is something wrong and you will have to have him seen by a vet. If it comes down to that take him to a humane society. They cost a lot less than a regular vet. Hope for the best. Everything will be ok.

Somehow, someway, you need to get your cat to a vet. There are any number of diseases that your cat can get: rabies, FIV, Feline leukemia, etc. The swelling is the least of the problems, and is a result of the body fighting the injury and infection. Most likely, your cat will need to see a vet, get its shots, be under observation, and get prescribed antibiotics to make sure any infection that could be there is cured.

If it is swollen it prob. already has an infection. You must take it to a vet. Find one that will work out a payment plan for you. But swelling is a sign of serious injury. Good Luck

Sounds like an infection or an abcess. Your only option is seeing the vet. They might have some sort of payment program to help out. If you don't, you're pretty much sentencing your cat to a slow and painful death.

Call around asking if you can pay a little at a time or about low cost services that may be available. You can try to doctor the cat yourself but if you really love it you'll get it professional help.

Is there a hole or sore? You could put peroxide on it. Then after it is done bubbling, dry it really well and put antibiotic ointment on it. Then wrap it up with something, so he can't lick it. If it is not better in a couple of days, you will need to see a vet.
